Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel got a great start in the second Formula 1 race of the season, shouldering ahead of Valtteri Bottas to follow Lewis Hamilton’s lead. The race started out wet, and then restarted after Antonio Giovinazzi’s hairy crash. Teams switched to slicks when the track dried up, and Vettel came out of the pits in fifth position.

With some daring overtaking that Formula 1 regards as a candidate for “move of the season,” Vettel took teammate Raikkonen on the inside and then rubbed tires with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo to pass on the outside in lap 22. That got him back up to third, and after passing Max Verstappen, Vettel claimed second place. Hamilton spent every lap in front to win the day. Verstappen followed in third, then Ricciardo. Raikkonen placed fifth.

Vettel and Hamilton are tied for first place in driver standings. Ferrari is currently second in constructor standings, just a point behind Mercedes. Vettel and Raikkonen are both driving really well so far, and we hope for a Ferrari win this year! It’s certainly an excellent prospect.
