There's something about exclusivity that makes us pine of the rare pieces of automotive history. When it comes to the Ferrari brand -- which inherently attracts only a select group of drivers -- the rarest of the rare makes big headlines.
In fact, this past August, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sold at auction for roughly $38 million. These hard-to-come-by vehicles may be babied these days, but as Derek Hill, racing champion and owner of a 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO, will tell you, this Grand Touring racer was famed for its endurance wins at Daytona and Nassau -- wins which his father, Formula One legend Phil Hill, won.
Part of the draw of the GTO is its super-limited production numbers -- less than 40 were manufactured. But Derek only has eyes for this particular GTO for another very personal reason -- it was raced by his father.
